Checkout Policies
- Students in Kindergarten may check out one book at a time for a period of two weeks. Most Kindergartners will check out books with Red or Orange dots.
- Students in grades 1-5 may check out two books at a time for a period of two weeks. One book must be on their Lexile level. The other may be a free choice book.
- Students must know their Lexile levels/colors when they come to the library.
- Students may renew their book checkout one time.
- There is no fine for overdue books.
- Students will receive notices for late books.
- Late books will be considered lost after six weeks.
- Students will be responsible for replacing lost or damaged books.
Rewards
- Students seen being exceptional library citizens may earn the opportunity to go to the treasure chest. An exceptional library citizen is someone who goes above and beyond what is expected of him or her and does more than what is asked of him or her. An exceptional library citizen does not constantly ask to go to the treasure box for completing tasks that are expected of all students.
- Students in Mrs. Pavlak's specials classes may also earn Dojo points for outstanding behavior and hard work.
Consequences
- Students will be reminded of the rules and asked to correct their behavior.
- If the behavior continues, the student may be removed from the group temporarily for quiet time to reflect.
- If the behavior continues after that, the student's teacher will be notified.
- Students in Mrs. Pavlak's specials classes may also lose Dojo points as a consequence.
- Any fighting or bullying will result in an administrative referral.
- Severe cases of disrespect will also result in administrative referrals.
